Carolina Connections DSL Speed Page

Speed Comparison

What's the maximum speed I can get with Carolina Connection DSL?

The maximum speed you can get with Carolina Connection DSL is 1.5Mbps in the "downstream" direction (information coming to you, such as Web pages or downloaded files) and 384 Kbps in the "upstream" direction (information you send to others, such as your outgoing emails). Most residential users need much greater "downstream" capacity than "upstream," which explains the speed difference between the two.

See for yourself just how fast Carolina Connection DSL really is! The following table shows how long it would take to download a four-megabyte music file at different connection speeds.

What connection speed can I expect?

Your actual connection speed will depend on many factors, including:

  • The physical characteristics of your telephone line and your distance from your telephone company's central office.
  • The vendor that owns access to your telephone line.
  • The traffic on Carolina Connection's network and the Internet at large. Bottlenecks do occur on the Internet, which can slow your actual download speed from the maximum.
Because of the number of variables, we cannot guarantee your connection speed in advance. And your connection speed may vary over the course of any day.
