2000 XL883 Custom
The purchase of this motorcycle can be described
in two words. MID-LIFE CRISIS!!! I admit it freely. Many people
told me not to buy a Sportster. They gave the standard reasons,
" You wont be happy with it, you will think it is too small,
you will just sell it in six months and buy a Big Twin".
When this didn't slow me down, they then said, " Don't get
an 883, go for the 1200, You will not be satisfied with the power
or speed of an 883". Well, being easily lead, like I am, I
bought an 883 Sportster. An 883 Custom to be exact. I realize
like all things, it is a matter of taste, but I find the 883
Custom to be a beautiful bike. It's form and function are damn
near perfection (in my opinion). I have added the following
things to the bike since I purchased it: Sissy Bar & Pad,
Sissy Bar Bag, Saddle Bags, Chrome Horn, Chrome Head Bolt Covers,
Chrome Timing Cover, Chrome Voltage Regulator Cover, Matching
Chrome Grips and Foot Pegs, Tear Drop Mirrors and my Sweet wife
gave me the dragon for my Custom (read home made)Air Cleaner
Cover. I have some pictures below. Take a look, and I am sure you
will agree .... DAMN FINE BIKE !!! ... LOL.
I am not going to put a lot of information
about Sportsters on this page (my knowledge is very limited).
