GARY CORNELIUS BARKER
Gary was born in Brooklyn, NY, the son of a Naval Officer from New Bern. His father's career took them to Maryland and South Carolina. When Gary was six his father retired and moved the family to his family's home in New Bern. Gary obtained a Navy ROTC scholarship, and attended the Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina, receiving a BS in Civil Engineering in 1976.
Gary has worked as a civil engineer, surveyor, contractor, land developer and Realtor since graduation. He has obtained professional licenses as a real estate broker, auctioneer, professional engineer and as a general contractor. He continues to maintain his professional engineer and broker licenses.
Gary's interest include sailing, golf, hunting, camping, fishing (both salt and fresh). He is active in his church, Faith United Methodist, participating in the choir, Sunday school, drama, and scouting ministries.
Immediately following graduation while working in consulting engineering Gary decided to pursue a real estate education to better understand his clients business of land development. The real estate business fascinated Gary and he obtained a broker's license upon completion of the course work. Since December of 1976 Gary has been active in real estate brokerage. Gary has been involved in land development and construction. This combined with his engineering experience has made him uniquely qualified to represent consumers in a real estate transactions.
